Guadi Galego

The ability to compose, versatility and sensitivity when performing are the hallmarks of Guadi Galego, a key figure in understanding the Galician music of the last 20 years.

Guadi Galego is one of the most relevant artists on the current Galician scene, the result of a musical career that began in 1997 when she joined Berrogüetto as a vocalist, pianist and bagpiper, and recorded three albums with them. Viaxe por Urticaria (1999) and Hepta (2001) were warmly received by the critics and received several awards and acknowledgements (including Best European Folk Group in 2000 and a nomination for the Latin Grammy in 2002). They were followed by 10.0 (2006), which won the second Premio Opinión for Best Galician Album of the Year and was nominated for the Premios de la Música with their song “Xente”.

By then Guadi was already beginning to experiment with different sounds in groups such as his most intimate and personal project, Espido (with Guillerme Fernández) or Nordestin@s (with Abe Rábade and Ugia Pedreira), both of which also won the Best Galician Album Award.

In 2009 she began his solo career with Benzón, an album acclaimed by Galician and Spanish critics. Thus, in 2012 she released the album aCadaCanto, an intimate project where she works once again with Guillerme Fernández, also accompanied by Xabier Díaz on vocals and Xosé Lois Romero on accordion. In 2014 she released her second solo album, Lúas de outubro e agosto, and in 2016, she released her third, O mundo está parado and won the Martín Códax Music Award for Best Artist in the Author’s Song category,

In 2019 she released Immersion, a musical and linguistic re-reading of his most recent works with artists such as Iván Ferreiro, Clara Peya, Xabier Díaz and Lisandro Aristimuño. This album earned him the Prize for the Promotion of Plurilingual Reality in Spain.

After a tour and a year marked by the pandemic, Guadi Galego launches Costuras, her new project, which travels from worlds associated with her childhood to the hardest yet most hopeful present and shows us the author as she is.
